Nestled in a most picturesque location on the banks of the River Shannon in Athlone, the Radisson Blu Hotel offers visitors a taste of luxury and style in a truly relaxing environment.
The hotel’s Brasserie offers a homely sanctum in which to unwind and enjoy a flavour infused meal in the company of family and friends and boasts a menu to cater for all tastes - with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options available, there is certainly no shortage of choice.
Your tastebuds are certain to delight as you sample the local produce on offer in such atmospheric surrounds.
With a plethora of three course meal options from which to choose on the Brasserie lunch menu, the starters are presented in a most delectable manner.
My guest opts for the Traditional Smokehouse Salmon with crabmeat, apple beignets and lime gel. Taste laden and abounding in colour, the opening dish is suitably nourished.
Irish chicken and mango confit complete with red chilis and cider vinaigrette graces my palate initially. Flavoured to perfection, it is the ideal start to my food journey at the Brasserie.
A succulent and tender tasting main course is chosen by my guest - a Southern Fried Chicken Fillet Burger laden with smoked bacon, garlic mayo, brioche bun and chips suitably complements her starter dish. The attention to detail is highly noticeable as colour laces the plate and the burger is cooked to palate perfection.
Choosing the Andarl Farm Roast Pork as a mains dish, I await with immense anticipation. Accompanied by crimson pear and crisp onions cooked with Indian pale ale and creamed potatoes, I am most definitely not disappointed. Arguably, my preferred dish, the pork oozes tender flavour. Once again, the colour on the plate is a prime feature and enhances the presentation of my main course dish.
Complementing the opening two courses, a vast array of tempting desserts complete the tasting journey.
A wonderfully presented Summer Berry Cheesecake with honeycomb ice cream suitably nourishes my guest for the afternoon, while the chocolate and raspberry mousse option is dessert presentation and taste at its finest.
The detail to customer service certainly matches the quality of our dining experience and is a prominent feature of our afternoon as we watch the majestic River Shannon flow by from the comfort of the Brasserie.
In what is an option laden menu featuring many wholesome and flavoursome dishes, making a restaurant reservation at the Brasserie at the Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone will not disappoint.
I await my imminent return with relish!
