Over the coming weeks I will be bringing to you, tips with regard to your skincare regime, your nutrition and I would not be me if I did not include some aromatherapy.
As we exit this lockdown it is time to take a good look at what we are doing with regard to our health and well-being. We need to take the opportunity to make some lifestyle changes which will have a huge effect on how we feel on the inside and also effect how we feel on the outside. Move forward with me on the right footing. I will be here to accompany and advise you on your ‘Self Care and Skin Care’ journey in a way I am passionate about, NATURALLY, of course.
A consistent skincare routine is extremely important. Today, I am going to go through step one of your skincare routine and bring to you the benefits of oil cleansing. When cleansing, morning and night, perhaps see this part of your day as your ‘me time’, close your bathroom door and as you take these few minutes for yourself, apply your cleanser, take a long deep breath in and exhale slowly and prepare your mind to de stress.
The oil cleansing method has been around for centuries. It is an effective way to cleanse your skin that does not strip your skin of its natural oils, because of this, it balances your skin in a positive way. Applying an oil to your skin may sometimes sound counter intuitive but in fact oil cleansing decreases your skins requirement to produce extra sebum. Oil cleansers generally contain ingredients that are attracted to other oils, such as the excess oil in our skin or makeup, seeking it out so to speak, so it can be removed as we rinse the cleanser off. Oil cleansing will dissolve impurities, remove bacteria, unclog pores, remove make up, remove waxy sebum and balance your skin.
The method is very simple. Apply the oil cleanser to your hands and massage it onto your dry face and neck and work well into your pores cleaning them out. Then remove the cleanser with a warm wrung out face cloth or cloth of your choice. Twice a day you should spend about two minutes on cleansing. If you wear a lot of makeup, with an oil cleanser you will not need a separate make up remover as it is amazing at dissolving make up even stubborn eye makeup. I would, however, recommend removing your make up first with the oil cleanser and then reapply the cleanser and concentrate on a thorough skin cleanse.
Once or twice a week if you feel your skin needs some exfoliation, I would recommend spending five minutes on your cleansing routine and concentrating on massage and encouraging removal of debris on the deeper levels of your skin in the direction of your lymph nodes for disposal. This will also dislodge clogged pores, blackheads, remove dead skin cells and increase blood flow encouraging clearer skin. I have a diagram I can email to you to show you the most effective direction for this type of facial massage, email me if you would like a copy.
