A Galwayman who was a passenger in a car which was involved in a high speed chase by gardaí in which a number of suspicious items was found, along with a bag containing cutting equipment, was fined €250 in Ballyhaunis District Court this week after pleading guilty to not giving gardai his name.

Fine Gael Leader, Enda Kenny, TD, has welcomed the decision to improve the broadband speeds at Cornanool National School just outside Castlebar. The Department of Education and Science have confirmed to the Fine Gael Leader that they will shortly be signing a contract with a new internet service provider. Once the contract is signed, it is expected that it will take six to eight weeks to complete. This will entail the provision of a new mobile broadband facility that will provide 1MB per second broadband in comparison to the much smaller capacity already available at the school.
