Plans for the third Mayo International Choral Festival next May are well under way, with several national and international choirs already booked in and looking forward to concerts, competitions and a Gala Choral Evening. The organisers are taking next year’s festival to a whole new level. Sing from the Summit will see the 2014 festival syllabus officially launched from one of the highest points in County Mayo - the top of Croagh Patrick, followed by a rousing version of “Moonlight in Mayo” sung en masse by our choral loving climbers! The festival is looking for two or more representatives from each of the many Mayo choirs, who will meet at 9.45am in the Croagh Patrick car park on September 14 to commence the climb at 10am (weather permitting). Refreshments will be served at Campbell’s Pub on completion of the climb and maybe a song or two will be sung to celebrate the achievements. If you would like to join them or for further festival details, closing dates, syllabus and entry forms, log onto www.mayochoral.com or contact Festival Chairperson Edward Horkan on 087 6683043.
