Permanent TSB invites you to a savings and investment information evening

aA savings and investment information evening is being hosted by Paul O’Hara, branch manager, Permanent TSB Castlebar, on Thursday October 6. The event, which is free to attend, takes place in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, and is a chance for people to have their questions answered in relation to savings and investment in the current climate. A panel of experts will be in attendance, and will be available to take questions from the audience in relation to investment markets, and what to do with your savings and pensions, among other topics.

According to Paul O’Hara, it is a great opportunity for people to get information about things they may be worried about. “We have three great speakers joining us, so it’s the perfect chance for people to get the knowledge they need to manage their money in this environment. We look forward to seeing people at the information evening and hopefully helping them with their financial queries.”

Extension to natural gas could save €20.6 million in the north west

Government investment in natural gas infrastructure could bring significant economic benefits to businesses and households in the Western Region. By extending and upgrading the grid infrastructure in the northwest, competitiveness for key industry sectors could be enhanced. Businesses are currently paying an estimated €16 million more each year for fuel than they would be if they could use natural gas. Annual energy prices for newly connected households could be reduced by up to €485 per household and almost 61 tonnes of savings in CO2 emissions could be secured. That is according to a policy briefing published by the Western Development Commission (WDC), ‘Why Invest in Gas? Benefits of natural gas infrastructure for the North West’.

Last year MIA worked with women throughout Mayo providing support, training, mentoring, and advice to women in the process of setting up their own enterprises. Following on the success of this, MIA has now been allocated EU funding to continue this work for a second year.

Mentoring programme for female entrepreneurs launched

Minister for Small Business, John Perry, has formally launched the National Mentoring Programme for Female Entrepreneurs. The programme is an initiative led by Galway Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the four chambers of commerce in Dublin, Cork, Waterford, and Sligo. The mentoring programme is geared towards early stage female entrepreneurs and sees them matched with a mentor for a 12-month period of mentoring support.
