Westmeath Fleadh Cheoil fundraising concert
The Castletown Geoghegan branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóiri Éireann are the hosts of this year’s Westmeath Fleadh Cheoil and will be hosting a fleadh fundraising gala concert on Friday April 10 at 8pm in St Michael’s Church, Castletown Geoghegan. Tickets are priced at €10 and are on sale from committee members, from Westmeath CCÉ branches, and from Claffey’s Shop and the Post Office in Castletown Geoghegan along with Streamstown Post Office.
Doughiska Resource Centre to hold open day
ARD Family Resource Centre in Doughiska will hold an Open Day on Friday March 13 from 10am -1pm in the Cumasú Centre on Doughiska road. The Resource Centre has been open almost three years now and runs free courses and groups for the young and old in the area.

Mayo sings in May with the International Choral Festival
This exciting inaugural festival will take the form of more than 30 male and female international, national, and Mayo choirs participating on a competitive and non-competitive basis from Thursday May 24 to Sunday May 27 across the county. The event will include a number of evening and daily countywide performances, as well as competitions and workshops. For visitors friendship, relaxation, and a memorable Mayo experience is the theme of the festival, allowing choirs to meet other choirs, relax, and enjoy a great weekend in the beautiful west of Ireland.

CastleCash YouthBank grants €3,225 to youth groups
The first grant award presentation of CastleCash YouthBank took place recently in the Youth Information Centre, Pavilion Road, Castlebar. Grants were distributed by the youth committee of YouthBank to local youth groups in Castlebar to run community initiatives. The event was attended by the newly elected Mayor, Councillor Michael Kilcoyne.
