Mayo is one of 10 areas nationwide which has a high rate of bowel cancer and the society is urging people in Mayo and the other bowel cancer ‘hotspots’ to reduce their risk of bowel cancer by making some small lifestyle changes.

Marie Keating Foundation awareness day a great success
The Marie Keating Foundation would like to thank the people of Mullingar who supported them when their Mobile Information Unit visited Mullingar last Thursday for a cancer awareness day in conjunction with Whelehans Pharmacy. The Marie Keating specialist cancer nurse spent the day giving information on cancer and advice to those touched by cancer either directly or indirectly. The unit was located in front of Whelehans Pharmacy on Pearse Street for the day.
