Westport parish mission commences on Monday
The Parish Mission begins this Monday October 7 and continues until Thursday October 10. As well as the Mission Mass which takes place at 7:30pm each evening there are a number of other events taking place during the four days. The mission is the last event taking place in the parish to mark the Year Of Faith which concludes in November.

Superintendent of Westport Aiden Foley stated at the town’s JPC meeting on Monday that there has not been an increase of break-ins in Westport town during 2012; in fact the number of break-ins in the town is down on the number of burglaries in 2011. The superintendent did, however, clarify that there has been a marginal increase in burglaries in the Westport district.
Six arrests made in relation to summer burglaries in Westport
Six arrests have been made in relation to burglaries which took place in the Westport area over the summer. Superintendent of Westport, Aiden Foley, said that three people are before the courts as a result of these arrests. Supt Foley informed members of these arrests at the town’s JPC which took place on Monday.

Masked men stole mobiles from Claremorris store
Fifty mobile phones were stolen in a raid on a the Vodafone shop in Claremorris. Two masked men entered the store at 3.30am on Thursday October 22.
