If three is a magic number the third Westport Food Festival, which was launched this week, will put a spell on food enthusiasts young and old. Taking place from September 6 - 8, the community-based programme of events includes many new and some old favourites, with something for every pocket and palate.

This Sunday, August 22, Westport will host a 5k fun run and walk around the historic tourist town. The event is open to absolutely everyone of all abilities and will take place through the grounds of Westport House. The event starts at 4.30pm sharp at the North Mall, with registration taking place from 3.30pm in the same location. The course has been accurately measured, and is the ideal distance for families, walkers, Fit4Life members, and club runners. As part of the Westport Get Out There adventure festival, the Westport community and Mayo Sports Partnership have come together to promote an initiative called Active Westport. As part of this initiative Westport AC, supported by Mayo Sports Partnership, is hosting a fun 5k walk and run starting at 4.30pm on Sunday August 22 on the north Mall. The 5k event is open to people of all abilities, families, walkers, joggers, runners, and club runners This will give everyone who takes part a chance to walk, jog, or run in the beautiful grounds of Westport House. Entry to the event is just €5, with the proceeds going to Westport AC, there will be a selection of prizes for those who finish in placings and a number of spot prizes. The event is being sponsored by the West Bar and Restaurant.
