As part of the Westport Get Out There adventure festival, the Westport community and Mayo Sports Partnership have come together to promote an initiative called Active Westport. As part of this initiative Westport AC, supported by Mayo Sports Partnership, is hosting a fun 5k walk and run starting at 4.30pm on Sunday August 22 on the north Mall. The 5k event is open to people of all abilities, families, walkers, joggers, runners, and club runners This will give everyone who takes part a chance to walk, jog, or run in the beautiful grounds of Westport House. Entry to the event is just €5, with the proceeds going to Westport AC, there will be a selection of prizes for those who finish in placings and a number of spot prizes. The event is being sponsored by the West Bar and Restaurant.
Claregalway 10k this Saturday
The annual Claregalway 10k takes place this Saturday, August 14 starting at 6pm. Late entries will be taken on the evening of the race at Claregalway Community Centre up to 5.30pm. It is expected that a large contingent of Mayo AC members will travel to this very popular race to challenge for the various individual prizes on offer. Also it is hoped that if the club have all their big names there they will have a strong chance of capturing both men and women team awards on offer.
Ballyhaunis 8k
Race five in the C and C Cellular League will be the third annual Ballyhaunis 8k on Saturday evening August 28. The race will be starting at 5pm. Many Mayo AC team members will be using this race as their final warm-up race in advance of the AAI National Half Marathon which takes place just over a week later on September 5 in Carlow.
