Solidarity bike ride arrives in Bellanaboy
Last Friday a 60-strong international bike ride arrived in Erris to a warm welcome from local campaigners at the Bellanaboy Shell refinery site. The cyclists have ridden 500 miles from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales to Erris. The cyclists joined with local campaigners at the refinery gate and then travelled en masse to the Rossport Solidarity Camp where some 200 people are meeting for the 2010 summer gathering.

Corrib protesters gear up for summer of unrest
Tensions in north Mayo have escalated once again with eight arrests over the weekend and one on Tuesday when a large number of protesters gathered for the summer Rossport Peace Camp. With the Solitaire due to arrive back in Mayo waters in the next month, the Rossport Solidarity Camp has taken up residence in Glengad in a bid to build up the resistance to Shell over the coming weeks and months. Mary Sweeney of the Rossport Solidarity Camp said: “Resistance in Mayo is building again. We’re expecting many waterborne activists from across Europe to arrive over the following weeks. The Solitaire will leave Irish waters once again with no pipeline laid.”
Shell to sea protester obtains summonses against gardaí
Prominent Shell to Sea campaigner Niall Harnett, Bar Na Cuille, Pullathomas, made an application to Judge Denis McLoughlin at Belmullet District Court on Wednesday for the issuing of four summonses against Superintendent Michael Larkin and Sergeant Gus Moran for an incident which occurred in May of this year.
