A protester from the Rossport Solidarity Camp was before Ballina District Court this week for public order charges arising out of an incident which took place on July 31 2012 at Gurteens, Ballina.

Two anti-Shell protesters were before the holiday sitting of Ballina District Court on Wednesday for public order charges arising out of alleged incidents that took place at Ballinaboy, Barnatra, Ballina, on August 1 —the location where a giant tunnel boring machine, which was on the way to the Corrib gas terminal, was struck at a crossroads.

The Rossport Solidarity Camp has issued a statement in relation to an alleged sexual assault which took place at the Party Against The Pipe festival at Aghoos in north Mayo.

Last Friday a 60-strong international bike ride arrived in Erris to a warm welcome from local campaigners at the Bellanaboy Shell refinery site. Mary Sweeney of the Rossport Solidarity Camp said: “Resistance in Mayo is building again. We’re expecting many waterborne activists from across Europe to arrive over the following weeks. The Solitaire will leave Irish waters once again with no pipeline laid.”

Prominent Shell to Sea campaigner Niall Harnett, Bar Na Cuille, Pullathomas, made an application to Judge Denis McLoughlin at Belmullet District Court on Wednesday for the issuing of four summonses against Superintendent Michael Larkin and Sergeant Gus Moran for an incident which occurred in May of this year.
