An overseas buyer is to pay in the region of €3.5 million for a 242-acre country estate in Thomastown – owned by the property developer and charity founder Niall Mellon.

Philanthropist Niall Mellon who organises a charity building blitz every year for the poor people of Cape Town in South Africa, has put his 242-acre Kilkenny country pile up for sale.

The Niall Mellon Township Trust held a briefing meeting for its 15 Kilkenny volunteers at the Midleton Park Hotel on Saturday October 2. The charity operates a year round housing building programme for impoverished families living in the townships of South Africa.

Keeping the streets clean
