Newman Institute gets ready to dance

The Newman Institute are embarking on a very popular fundraising event on Saturday, November 16 in Hotel Ballina. Sixteen budding dancers have volunteered to compete for the prestigious prize of winning champion of the dance floor competition. The couples have been involved in an intensive dance training campaign for months under the stewardship of choreographer and dance instructor Marie Brennan. The main sponsor for the event is Paddy Connolly 4x4, Killala Road, Ballina. Each dancer has also secured a sponsor for raising funds. Proceeds from all the fundraising organised by the Newman's Institute's fundraising committee will go towards establishing a student bursary as well as contributing towards the running costs of the Institute.

After only managing two first half points, Galway improved dramatically after the restart but failed to turn their lengthy spells of possession into badly needed scores. After sending over the first point of the game the Jackies were handed a dream start when Amy Ring’s effort from far out on the right-hand side dipped fiercely and landed in the corner of the net to stun Galway.
