Galway city’s Michelin star restaurant Anair added yet another accolade to its ever increasing list after its Boutique Cookery School scooped the Innovative Cookery Course award at the Good Food Ireland Awards.

Achill Island and Louisburgh have made it on to the longlist in The Irish Times’ competition The Best Place to Holiday in Ireland. It will join 23 other holiday hotspots in the race to be named as Ireland’s best place to holiday. The other finalists include Dingle, Inis Meain and The Shannon River. Every county in the country was represented in the competition, with over 1,400 entries submitted in total by members of the public. County Mayo is strongly represented at this year’s Good Food Ireland Awards which will take place on Tuesday November 20 at The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin. These awards celebrate the best of Irish food and focus on Irish ingredient-led cuisine and artisan food production. An Taoiseach Enda Kenny is guest of honour at this year’s awards, which will be hosted by RTÉ’s Mary Kennedy.

The annual awards of Good Food Ireland will take place in The K-Club next Tuesday and Mayo will have five fine culinary representatives, who use local produce, at the ceremony.
