The county senior hurling final which is fixed for October 13 is set to be one of the most eagerly awaited in years thanks in no small part to St Oliver Plunkett’s shock win over hot favourites Clonkill last weekend.

Hurling takes centre stage this week with the two hurling semi-finals down for decision.

Lough Lene Gaels and Clonkill have booked their place in the semi-finals of this year’s Slevins Coaches senior hurling championship. The Gaels helped themselves to a 2-14 to 1-8 win over a disappointing Raharney while the reigning champions edged out Castletown Geoghegan in a thriller.
