The fog cleared just in time for 300 competitors from all over Ireland to descend on Blacksod for the highly successful Blacksod Point Challenge triathlon, which was won by Kevin Thornton of Base2Race who left the field behind him and broke the course record.
Dual launch for Kilmore Triathlon Club
The Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring will launch the new website of the Kilmore Triathlon Club at 8.30pm on Thursday, April 11, in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel, Belmullet. The Minister will also launch this year’s Blacksod Point Challenge triathlon, which will take place in September.

Taoiseach launches Living Links Tri Event
Last Saturday, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Dr John Connolly of the Irish Association of Suicidology formally launched the Living Links Tri Event in aid of Suicide Awareness in Mayo. The Living Links Tri Fundraiser is being held in conjunction with the Blacksod Point Challenge Triathlon in Belmullet on September 22, and is a Triathlon Ireland sanctioned national series race.

Kilmore Triathlon Club is hosting the Gateway Blacksod Point Triathlon tomorrow (Saturday). Some 250 competitors are competing from Ireland and abroad, including many locals and relay teams.

Calling all creative 16 to 19-year-olds. Kilmore Triathlon Club is looking for a new logo and wants you to design one and be in with a chance of winning some great prizes, including a six months membership in Ealu Leisure Centre and a €100 voucher for Exposure Sport and Outdoor shop in Castlebar.
Mayo AC ladies’ team selected to represent Ireland at European championships
The Mayo AC ladies team have been rewarded for their good performances this year by being selected to take part in the 24th European road race inter club championships in Torres Vedras, Portugal. The event, which will take place on Sunday October 17 over a 15km course, will have top athletic clubs from all over the continent taking part. The Mayo AC team which will compete in the event will be finalised over the coming weeks.
Triathlon coming to Erris
Kilmore Triathlon Club is hosting an Olympic distance triathlon on September 20— which is sanctioned by Triathlon Ireland—with up to 250 competitors from across Ireland taking part.
