Triathlon coming to Erris

Kilmore Triathlon Club is hosting an Olympic distance triathlon on September 20— which is sanctioned by Triathlon Ireland—with up to 250 competitors from across Ireland taking part.

The event will comprise a 1.5km swim in Blacksod Pier (out and back ); a 40km cycle from Blacksod lighthouse to the Belmullet town sea wall (out and back circuit ); and a 10km run from Blacksod lighthouse around Falmore (out and back circuit ).

On the day there will be a one-way system operating from Eachleim to Blacksod with exit via Falmore / Surge View. A traffic diversion will also be operating at the cycle turn around point (Belmullet town's sea wall ).

Water users are advised that 250 swimmers will be in the water from 10am to 11am, and during this time access to the slip / pier may be limited to ensure swimmer safety.

If you are going to be affected by the race and would like further information please contact Jason Mangan on 087 614 7032 or email [email protected]. This event will bring in the region of 500 people to the area for the weekend and will promote Kilmore as a top sporting destination, as well as extending the tourist season.
