Moylette makes his way back
St Anne’s Ray Moylette will compete in the semi-finals of the National Elite Championships in the National Stadium in Dublin this evening. The former European and World junior champion saw off the challenge of Sean Montgomery (Canal BC) last Sunday in the same venue. The Islandeady boxer will be up against Portlaoise’s Michael Nevin who won two bouts last weekend to get to this stage of the competition. If Moylette picks up the win he’ll face the inner of Dean Walsh (St Joseph’s/St Ibars) and Rohan Date (St Paul’s).

Almost forty finals and semi-finals on the cards this weekend
Following last weekend’s action in the preliminary and quarter finals of the 2013 Mayo championships in the Peter Callaghan Centre home of St Anne’s Boxing Club in Westport, the action will move to north Mayo this weekend, over Saturday and Sunday, where two days of boxing will kick off in the Killala Community Centre at 11am Saturday. On the weekend’s card are 18 semi-finals and 19 finals. Mayo championships weigh in this Sunday
The weigh in for the 2013 Mayo Boxing Championships will be held in the Peter Callaghan Centre (St Anne’s Club) Westport this Sunday from 9am to 10am. Boxing will commence at 12 noon and the semi/finals will be held in the Killala Community Centre the following weekend, Saturday February 16 and Sunday 17.
New physical activity project for Crossmolina/Killala areas
Do you want some help to keep a new year’s resolution to get fit this year? If you are aged 55 or over and live in the Crossmolina/Killala/Ballycastle area, you can get involved in an exciting new physical activity project which is being co-ordinated by the Mayo Sports Partnership and HSE West, in association with local community centres, local health professionals, and community groups.
Be Active 55 Project
The Be Active 55 project started in Killala and Crossmolina this Thursday and will continue every Thursday. This is a one hour exercise class especially for people who are aged 55 plus, run by a qualified exercise instructor and will cost €5 per class.
