HALO IS best known as a nightclub but tomorrow night it will launch Upstairs @ Halo, a new venture featuring live music gigs on a Thursday and Friday night.

One of Ireland’s most consistent bands, Ham Sandwich are returing to Mullingar this month to play Danny Byrnes on Friday February 10.

Over the past three years local alternative DJ Finbar Hoban has bought some of the best Irish bands to Bar Ritz on the main street in Castlebar. Finbar came up with a plan in 2008 to bring back a live original music scene to the county town that had not been seen since the days of the Humbert Inn, in supporting original bands in the Mayo area and across the Irish music scene by running a monthly show at Bar Ritz titled Finbar Hoban Presents. Trying to re-invent a live original music scene in the Castlebar area was never going to be an easy task.

Marvel Comics Heroes and Villains fancy dress party next Saturday night February 5 at Bar Ritz (Mulroys Bar) Castlebar. All you have to do is dress as up as your favourite comic book hero or villain. There are loads of prizes to be won for best dressed on the night.

A strong line-up of performers remains in tact for the proposed Dysart Festival, which had originally been planned for the grounds of Dysart Castle in Thomastown, but due to poor ticket sales has been moved to a city centre venue.

A NIGHT of music from highly promising Irish indie acts will take place in the Róisín Dubh on June 25 with Citizen, The Heritage Centre, Saving J, and Voodoo Fire in Haiti.
