THIS MONTH’s North Beach Poetry Nights will have a fiction slant as the night will see the launch of a new short story anthology.

Claremorris natives Cathal Sherlock and Elizabeth Reapy have created an ebook which is on sale now on amazon.com. The publication entitled Wordlegs Presents: 30 Under 30 was launched on the global site last week, featuring a collection of 30 stories from 30 Irish writers, all aged 30 or younger.

Every year Mayo County Council offers two special bursary awards to artists born or living in Mayo, to enable them to spend two weeks at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, County Monaghan. Each bursary covers all board and lodging expenses for a two-week period, plus the use of a studio if relevant. There are a variety of work spaces including studios, a music room for composers and musicians, a multi-media room and a large rehearsal and performance space.
