Public information day on cultural and linguistic exchange programmes

GMIT students receive sports scholarships

Twenty-five sports scholarships have been awarded to GMIT students who have excelled in individual sports. The programme is worth €32,000 in scholarships and bursaries across all five GMIT campuses, in addition to a complete range of support for the students’ sport and academic requirements.

NUI Galway accepts flaws in appointment process and promotes three staff

NUI Galway is to promote three staff members to the post of senior lecturer after accepting a flaw in the appointment process earlier this year. At this week’s meeting of the institute's Governing Authority a recommendation to promote the staff was accepted, following "scoring errors" in the promotion process.

Local man attains highest mark on MBA programme

Des Higgins was recently awarded the Best Student Award for achievement of the highest overall mark on the Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme at NUI Galway for the 2012-2014 class achieving a first class honours. Des is a Chartered Accountant and Commercial Director at Wood Group Kenny and completed the MBA programme part-time.

Opportunity for young Mayo musicians

For the second year running, Music Generation Mayo is offering financial assistance, in the form of a bursary scheme to exceptional music students residing in Mayo, aged from 10 to 18 years. Bursaries will be made available to defray the costs of accessing recognised expert music tuition or purchasing a musical instrument. This scheme is designed to allow gifted young musicians to further advance their skills and/or upgrade to a professional instrument.
