THE HILARIOUS Who Needs Enemies? series returns to the Town Hall Theatre stage for it’s seasonal instalment, A Christmas Tale, next week.

All talk of doom, gloom and recession is officially suspended for a few days. As the great Ozzy Osbourne once said “Christmas is a time for remembering. So that’s me f***ed.”

Athlone audiences are in for a treat as September marks the start of Athlone Film Club’s autumn/winter season. From September 15 to December 15, films will be shown every second Tuesday at 8pm on the big screen in the Dean Crowe Theatre and Arts Centre. From comedy to classic, from world cinema to contemporary, the club promises an exciting line-up that will appeal to all tastes and ages.

Come along to the Dean Crowe Theatre on Tuesday December 8 as Athlone Film Club leads you into the Christmas season with A Christmas Tale (Un Conte de Noel), a film that appeared on many critics’ top 10 list of the best films of 2009 and was also a leading contender for the prestigious Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival.

Ballina Film Club’s autumn/winter programme concludes this week with the seasonal offering A Christmas Tale on Tuesday December 22 at 8pm.
