After a successful start for all involved last month, the second Athlone Indoor Market will be held on Sunday, February 25, in the Athlone Springs Hotel between 12 noon and 4pm.
The market will feature more than 25 stalls, including lots of bric’a’brac, toys, fairy houses, art, wooden crafts, jewellery, clothes & shoes, baking and more.
Parking is free, and this month there will be a free kids’ face painter between 1 and 3pm.
Organiser Denise Coffey came up with the idea at the beginning of the year, after starting www.theclearingclosetireland.com, a jewellery and accessories website. Lacking the funds to open her own shop, and finding it difficult to meet customers in person, Denise thought a monthly market would be a good idea.
“When I searched I realised that there was no permanent market in the Athlone area, so I put the word out on Facebook and within a few days I had enough bookings to go ahead with the first one!” she said. “There were lots of others in the same position as myself with small businesses working from home.
“The aim is to have lots of variety of stalls every month. There will be a few of us regulars but over half the stalls will be different every month. I hope to run it monthly, possibly fortnightly coming near summer.”
