Refused to leave Dunnes

A man who refused to leave Dunnes Stores Harbour Place despite being banned, has received a one month prison sentence.

Gardaí were called to the back entrance of the store when Daniell Zgorecki who lives at 234 Greenpark Meadows refused to leave. He was intoxicated and eventually complied but returned and was arrested.

The court heard Mr Zgorecki is serving a sentence for public order offences and could be out on May 5 with full remission.

He was on temporary release at the time he committed the offence at 3pm on February 21 this year.

Mr Kiernan told the court that his client’s employer had previously come to court and advocated on his behalf.

He said Mr Zgorecki was a great worker but had experienced “a long battle with alcohol” and all his previous troubles arose out of that drink problem.

Judge O’Brien handed down a one month sentence for failing to comply with the direction of Gardaí and a charge of public intoxication was taken into consideration.
