Gardaí appeal for help from public after assault

Two men have been arrested by Gardaí investigating the serious assault of a 20-year-old man in Roscommon Town on August 30.

Shortly after 11pm, Gardaí were called to the scene of an incident in a car park at rear a premises on Castle Street. A 20-year-old man had sustained apparent stab wounds during the incident. The man was taken by Ambulance to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe. He condition is understood to be serious.

A man in his 40s was arrested in Ballinasloe by investigating Gardaí on Tuesday morning, September 26, while a second man, also in his 40s, was arrested yesterday morning in Athlone.

Both men are currently detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Roscommon Garda Station.

The injured man is continuing to recover from his injuries. Investigating Gardaí are continuing to appeal for information. They are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the Castle Street area between to 10.30pm and 11.30pm on the night in question to come forward.
