The Darkness into Light 5k walk will take place on May 6, starting at the Athlone Town Stadium.
This year’s walk will be supporting the new Pieta House centre in Athlone, which is based on Sean Costello Street.
The centre was formerly Console, but when trouble hit this charity Pieta House stepped in to ensure that the essential support for people bereaved by suicide could be continued in Athlone.
In the coming weeks, the centre will be renovated to provide more counselling rooms. The services will be taken over by Pieta House to provide this vital support for those in suicidal crisis, those engaging in self-harm and those bereaved by suicide in the Midlands.
