New community choir to bring people together

The Forget Me Not Community choir is a new Athlone choir aimed at all ages. Its main goal is to bring people out of their homes and nursing homes and come together as a community, through their love of music.

The organisers are particularly interested in welcoming people living with dementia and special needs.

The first session for the new choir takes place this Tuesday, January 17 from 11am–1pm. The group will meet in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, and sessions will continue on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the same time. There will be a charge of €2 to cover tea/coffee and biscuits.

While the organisers are aware that the time excludes school-going children, they are hopeful that some transition year students may be available to come along and join in. It may also suit students completing the Gaisce award.
