Winner of Athlone Advertiser Christmas Art Competition could be flying to Legoland with help of Ireland West Airport Knock

The winner of this year’s Athlone Advertiser Christmas Art Competition will be flying to Legoland at Windsor courtesy of the competition sponsors Ireland West Airport Knock.

Christmas time is an emotive time at the airport with people flying in and out to spend the holidays with family and friends. So it is appropriate that the theme for this year’s Athlone Advertiser Christmas Art Competition is ‘Christmas Morning’. So get out your colours and get your entries in straight away. We’ve extended the deadline for entries until 5pm tomorrow, Friday, December 9.

Donal Healy, marketing manager of Ireland West airport said that the airport had celebrated a memorable year in 2016 with the highlights being the return of the victorious Connacht Rugby team after they won the Guinness Pro 12 trophy in Edinburgh. The airport also celebrated its 30th birthday and this was marked by a series of events such as a celebratory function and a unique 5k charity race on the runway — just hours before the Connacht team touched down.

The airport was also the subject of the innovative UTV Ireland fly-on-the-wall documentary The Airport Down In Knock.

“Ireland West Airport Knock (IWAK ) is the airport of choice and convenience for the counties of the Midlands, and with such a wide range of destinations being served from IWAK, we are delighted to sponsor this event as a token of our appreciation for the service of our customers from Westmeath and Roscommon,” he said, adding that the airport is now developing regional hubs to send tourists around the regions.

The winner will receive two flights to London, accommodation, and tickets to Legoland at Windsor. Terms and conditions apply.

Make your picture as colourful as you can. The winning picture will feature on the front page of our paper and the winning artists will receive some flights and some surprises as part of the sponsorship by IWAK.

Today is the final call for entries because all entries must be in by tomorrow and sent or handed in to the Athlone Advertiser office, 98a Sean Costello Street, Athlone.

All entries should be A4-sized and be submitted flat so that they can be reproduced without any creases. Fix a separate piece of paper with Sellotape onto the back of your entry and write on this your name, the name and address of your school or pre-school, and your school class e.g 3rd class. You may enter as many times as you like.
