A talk is to take place this Tuesday February 23 entitled ‘Suicide - the Reality’ at the Social Service Centre, Bishopsgate Street, Mullingar from 7.30 to 9.30pm.
The event forms part of a six-week Gatekeeper Community Education Programme, developed by the Suicide Resource Service HSE Midlands as part of an overall suicide prevention initiative.
The aim of the programme is to enhance understanding of the issues relating to suicide within communities. The programme also aims to develop our thinking around the subject of mental health in general, its relevance in all our lives, and the need and personal responsibility we all share to maintain our own mental health and general sense of well-being.
Tuesday’s talk on ‘Suicide - The Reality’ is the third in the series. On March 2 the topics are ‘Substance Awareness’ and ‘Understanding Self-Harm’; on March 9 ‘Bereavement and Loss’ and ‘GROW Community Support’; and on March 16 ‘Adolescent Development and Parenting’.
Members of the public are invited to attend any or all of the nights, and there is no charge.
