Gardaí in Athlone are appealing for help from members of the public in the case of a Mullingar man who was reported missing on Sunday, August 14 and was last spotted in Athlone.
Twenty-eight-year-old Damien Donoghue was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning. He was out socialising in Mullingar, and it is understood that he may have taken a taxi to Athlone.
Gardaí are concentrating their search on an area of the Ballymahon Road between the Crescent Junction and the town limits, and are keen to speak to anyone who was in this area between 2.30 and 3.30am last Sunday morning (August 14 ).
Sergeant Michelle Baker from Athlone Garda Station says CCTV footage show multiple vehicles, taxis, pedestrians, and deliveries in the area during this time, and they are anxious to speak to anyone involved in any of these activities.
“People might not think that they met him, but we would still like to speak to anyone who was walking or driving in this area, including to rule people out,” she said.
Damien, who is from Belvedere Hills, Mullingar, is described as being 5ft 8in tall, of slim build, with short dark/black hair. When last seen he was wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering on the right side, grey skinny jeans, and distinctive red New Balance runners.
He was reported missing by his family on Sunday evening, and Gardaí and his family are concerned for his welfare.
