There is still plenty of time to get your entries in for the Mullingar Fun Run in aid of Mullingar Hospital. The 8km fun run/walk has been organised to raise funds and awareness for the stroke unit in the hospital.
The event will kick off at 11am on Saturday February 28, and the entry fee is €20. There is a special price for ‘family’ units taking part. Community groups are considered ‘extended family’, and the idea is to have a bit of craic while generating awareness and funds, as well as taking in the local scenery.
Registration will take place in Columb Barracks from 9am on the day. The race will be launched at Belvedere House and Gardens by OC 4 Fd Arty Regt, Lt Col Arthur Armstrong to the sound of a ceremonial 25 Ponder Gun.
The route will take participants from the beautiful grounds of Belvedere House, down by Bloomfield Hotel, and left at Lynn Cross Roads, along the road to Kilpatrick Bridge, in the Athlone Road and left at the roundabout, across Ardleigh, and in the Ashe Road to Columb Barracks to finish at about 1pm.
The co-ordinator for the event is Regt Sgt Major Noel O’Callaghan, who can be contacted at (086 ) 3581634. You can also get in touch with BS Tommy Owens and Sgt Garry Madden from Columb Barracks, or Dr Sean Murphy and Katherine Kenny from Mullingar Hospital.
