Athlone Castle Visitor Centre presents ‘Athlone Castle Christmas Cracker’, a festive event full of Christmas cheer for all the family on Saturday December 20 from 2-5pm.
The event commences with a treasure hunt at 2pm sharp for all the family to enjoy. Registration takes place in the courtyard of Athlone Castle and children must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes are of a festive nature; first prize is a Christmas turkey and a selection box, second prize is a ham and a selection box, and third prize is a Christmas cake and a selection box.
It will be a great opportunity to bring your children to Athlone Castle Visitor Centre. Admission on the day is free for children and adults can enjoy a 50 per cent discount off normal rates.
Entertainment will be provided by local DJ Padraig Nally and organisers hope, weather permitting, to have performances by a local choir and youth band. Characters from Tonnta Street Theatre will be spreading the Christmas cheer and there will be face painting before Santa arrives.
Santa Claus is scheduled to arrive at Athlone Castle from the North Pole by carriage at approximately 3pm. He is hoping to meet with all the good children from Athlone up to 5pm.
