After claiming a seventh Westmeath title Garrycastle will be hoping to make a significant impact in next Sunday’s Leinster Senior Club Championship quarter-final clash with Longford’s Emmet Óg, Killoe.
The Mullingar contest promises to be an interesting encounter as Killoe are quietly confident of claiming a scalp or two in the provincial competition. Garrycastle, All-Ireland finalists in 2012, enjoyed a surprisingly comfortable county decider win over Mullingar Shamrocks and have the potential to launch a bid for honours again.
Cathal Mullin remains a capable goalkeeper behind a solid defence in which Mark McCallon, Karl Henson, and John Gaffey continue to impress. At centrefield Aidan Browne and Justin Barrett were highly effective when Garrycastle defeated Mullingar Shamrocks. Dessie Dolan’s ability to create and take chances from his centre forward role is well documented and Garrycastle’s talisman should receive ample support in attack from James Dolan and Alex Gardiner.
