The residents of Cappataggle, Ballinasloe, now have another community facility to add to their growing list of state-of-the-art facilities with the completion of a walking and jogging track around the local pitch.
Funding for the project was raised locally by the Cappataggle Community Association with funds from the annual 8K race and other fundraising activities. Generous sponsorship of €5,000 was also received from the N6 concession that operates the toll plaza located in Cappataggle on the M6 motorway.
The sand-based track is 760 metres long and offers a badly needed and safer alternative for the many active walkers of all ages who currently use the local roads.
