The Creggan Court Hotel, located at the Kilmartin Centre, Athlone, has been purchased by a private investor for an estimated sum of over €1 million.
The hotel, which has been trading for 12 years, went into receivership in April, and was subsequently put on the market by joint receivers Kieran Wallace and Padraig Monaghan, KPMG.
It was purchased this week by an Irish-based investor, and is expected to be managed under a new Irish hotel brand called Express Inn.
The three-star, 71-bedroom hotel is located at the Kilmartin Centre, just off the M6 Dublin to Galway motorway.
It features The Lemon Tree restaurant, which seats 80, the Granary Bar, and four conference rooms, with bedrooms on three levels.
John Hughes of CBRE Hotels described the Creggan Court Hotel as “a popular Midlands hotel which attracts local, tourist, corporate, and leisure business”.
“The sale offers the purchasers an excellent opportunity to acquire a strategically located hotel in the heart of Ireland,” he added.
