Date for Garrycastle semi-final confirmed

Garrycastle cruised into the Westmeath SFC final when easily dismissing Coralstown/Kinnegad’s challenge by 1-14 to 0-6 at Cusack Park last Sunday.

A first-minute Conor Cosgrove goal gave Garrycastle a dream start and underdogs Coralstown/Kinnegan never recovered.

At half-time Garrycastle went in protecting a 1-7 to 0-3 advantage and they didn’t encounter any serious trouble after the restart.

The decider has been fixed for October 26 due to the other semi-final draw involving St Loman’s and Mullingar Shamrocks.

That replay is scheduled to take place on Sunday October 12 following a dramatic clash in which Mullingar Shamrocks recovered following a shaky start.

John Heslin netted a St Loman’s goal as the holders were 1-6 to 0-5 ahead at the break, but Mullingar came roaring back.

Lorcan Smyth grabbed a goal and eventually Denis Corroon rifled over a splendid leveller to ensure the local rivals must meet again.
