The third Lunch by the Lake, a very special fundraising event in aid of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI ) will take place at the Wineport Lodge on Sunday October 5.
The day will start at noon with a sparkling drinks reception on arrival sponsored by The Wineport Lodge where guests will be treated to some very special entertainment from celebrated crooner, Diarmuid Guinan.
After a beautiful four-course lunch with wine, the winner of the Best Dressed Lady competition - sponsored by milliner, Suzie Mahony - will be announced. The winner will walk away with a hat designed by the award-winning milliner.
This will be followed by a fashion show from Olivia Danielle Boutique featuring her autumn /winter 2014 collection followed by DJ Padraig Nally, keeping the party going till the early evening. Those attending will all receive fabulous goody bags and have a chance to win raffle prizes, with a guaranteed winner at every table. As October is breast cancer awareness month, guests attending are asked to Dare to Wear Pink and show their support for breast cancer research.
The event has been organised by the friends of NBCRI Athlone and main sponsor Colm Quinn Motors Athlone-Galway. All monies raised will go directly to the research team funded by the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, based at the Clinical Science Institute NUI Galway. They have become a leader in the field of breast cancer research internationally but must continually fundraise to maintain the high level of research needed.
Thanking the Athlone group recently, NBCRI’s medical director, Prof Michael Kerin said; “With more than 2000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in Ireland each year, only with research can we help to ascertain the causes and factors that influence breast cancer and therefore help to develop effective screening, treatments, and medication to combat it. I’m delighted the friends of NBCRI Athlone are helping us raise awareness and support of the charity in the Midlands.”
