Staff from Specsavers in Mullingar will join fellow staff members from across the country to raise €100,000 for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
Specsavers has selected the hospital as its national charity of the year, and to kick off the partnership, Specsavers Mullingar along with stores nationwide, have committed to cycling the circumference of Ireland (5,600kms ). Last year 2,894 children from County Westmeath attended Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, meaning there were on average eight admissions each day.
With Specsavers aiming to raise €100,000 over the coming months, Specsavers Mullingar will be quite literally putting their wheels in motion on the day, as they hold a static cycle in-store to raise funds. Customers are invited to drop in to the Pearse Street store on the day and show their support as the team aims to complete their 120km section.
Elaine McGovern, director of Specsavers Mullingar, said: “We are delighted to be working with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin as our Specsavers Ireland charity of the year. We have always admired the fantastic work it does for children across Ireland. The idea of a static cycle covering the distance around Ireland was born out of desire to get all of our staff members really involved with the fundraising process. We hope that through their fantastic commitment, and the support of our customers, that we can achieve our goal of raising €100,000.”
