Ireland’s Strongest Man has announced its return to Mullingar. The championship will be held in Belvedere House Gardens and Park on Sunday June 22 from 3pm. Ireland’s Strongest Man 2014 will present seven of the toughest and most gruelling tests ever in an Ireland’s Strongest Man Final and not only will it be an awesome spectator spectacle, it is sure to make excellent television in the one hour planned RTÉ programme. Featured amongst the gruelling tests will be the car lift and hold. This event which will involve two cars and two competitors in a head-to-head lift and hold of a one tonne car for as long as possible. The final event for the championship title will be the super drayman barrel load. This event will involve two loading platforms and two competitors, with 90 seconds to load five barrels weighing 125kg each up onto the platforms. The 12 strongest men in Ireland will gather on June 22 for the battle at Belvedere having fought their way from four qualifying heats around the island of Ireland, involving over 50 competitors. Admission to the event site is €10 for an adult, €5 for children under 16, toddlers up to three years of age are free, plus there are great family deals.
