Library runs successful Easter-themed art competition

In an effort to encourage youthful creativity, the library in Ballynacarrigy ran a series of competitions to challenge the next generation of poets and painters of the neighbourhood.

Over the last number of weeks, the library was delighted to receive dozens of entries in its Easter-themed competition, with the poetry for the older classes and colour-in for the younger ones.

“We were delighted to receive entries from all the local schools including Sonna, Emper, Moyvore, and Milltown,” said librarian Cecilia Connolly, who wished to thank all entrants for their efforts.

Winners of the poetry competition included: Eric Molloy, Terri Molloy, Jack Hayes, Sarah Scally, Rachel Maguire, Thomas Gruselle, and Jessica Moran.

Winners of the colouring-in competition included: Brian McGowan, Donagh O Fiach, Rory Bannon, Emily Coakley, Anna May Flannery, Emer Gunning, Erin Boyce, Anna Mulvey, and Jane Mulvey.
