This year the AIT Students Union placed major focus on four very worthy charities as part of the annual RAG (Raise and Give ) Week. The charities that were chosen to benefit were the AIT Hardship Fund, the Midlands Simon Community, South Westmeath Hospice, and Special Olympics Ireland.
The money raised during RAG Week, which took place from February 16-21, amounted to €3,100, which will be shared among the four charities.
Fully aware of some of the negative connotations of RAG Week in the community, the Students Union decided to place more emphasis on alcohol-free events. These included a fun run, spin-a-thon, bubble football, rock and roll bingo, bucket collection, and ‘Unheard of’ art auction in the Luan Gallery.
Overall the week of fundraising was a success, and a huge number of students and staff supported the various events. The Students Union would like to thank all involved for volunteering both their time and money during the week.
