Mullingar Chamber of Commerce and their Night at the Dogs has an election race which has been sponsored by parties with Fianna Fáil, Sinn Féin, Fine Gael, and Labour all taking slots in the novelty event.
“It is only a bit of light hearted fun,” said Pat Whelan, chamber president, “Politics doesn’t come into the chamber business but we couldn’t resist the idea of an election race. The race is not always to the swift but it does tend to be the winner here!”
“Of course the main parties will be fighting it out in a proportional representation race on May 23 and not a ‘first past the post’ system!
“The Night at the Dogs promises to be a great night out for all the family and a great way to start the St Patrick’s Day celebrations. It is also a great way for the business community in the town to network and meet people. I look forward to seeing everyone there on the night,” said Pat.
The Night at the Dogs takes place at Mullingar Greyhound Stadium on Saturday March 15.
