RTÉ’s Operation Transformation is teaming up with the Irish Sports Council to organise a number of special National Walks in 42 locations all around Ireland this Saturday, including two in Westmeath.
This Saturday January 18, locals are invited to take the first step in getting active by joining in these walks. In Westmeath, walks take place at Belvedere House, Mullingar at 11am, and from the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone, also at 11am. Simply turn up at the meeting point with comfortable clothing and your runners on, and enjoy a 3km walk!
Walking leaders are being provided by the Irish Sports Council and their Local Sports Partnerships to help people kick-start their new year fitness resolutions.
The programme’s fitness expert Karl Henry said “I am a huge fan of walking to get results. It’s free, accessible, and it works. The Operation Transformation National Walk is a great way to get out and get active.”
