Twenty-two-year-old Darren Duncan of Violetstown, Gaybrook has been ordered to complete his community service or face an 11 month sentence.
Mr Duncan had been sentenced following a conviction for taking a vehicle unlawfully at Crookedwood, Mullingar on March 5 2006.
160 hours community service was imposed in lieu of that, but the court heard that Mr Duncan has only completed 11 hours.
He will appear again in court on April 2 to assess his progress.
