Retro returns to Upstairs Caseys

Upstairs Caseys is to throw a novel pre-Christmas bash with its Retro goes Ghoulish night on Friday November 29 at the landmark Mullingar venue.

This night out, in aid of St Vincent de Paul, is something of a compromise evening, after a double with a birthday saw plans for a Hallowe’en function postponed.

“So we thought we’d take consideration of the 20th anniversary of the Tim Burton movie Nightmare before Christmas. We thought we’d theme the night on that. We’re sorta punking up Christmas before it goes all Christmassy,” said Retro co-promoter and DJ Declan O’Farrell.

Tickets for the night are priced at €5, and further details can be got on its Facebook page Upstairs goes Retro.

Elsewhere, on a more traditional seasonal note, Mullingar Rugby Club is hosting a two-day Christmas craft fair. This will be held at the clubhouse on the Castlepollard Road over the weekend of November 30 and December 1 from 10am until 6pm.

Anybody wishing to sell their produce, whether it be smoked hams, Christmas garlands, Yule logs, candles, cards or crafts should contact Siobhan on (086 ) 6078593 or [email protected]

There will be two roaring fires, and refreshments available, as well as facilities for outdoor and indoor stands.
