The Six Marys is returning to Athlone’s Little Theatre on Saturday November 9 and Sunday November 10.
Three thousand people have seen this play to date. Performances have taken place in Dublin, Cork, Mullingar, Roscommon, Moate, and other venues. Every time it is performed requests are made to take it elsewhere. There are already many bookings for 2014.
Singing group Luan Tunes sang the musical numbers in the earlier performances of The Six Marys. However, as most of these singers work full time, and as they are a four-part harmony group, it was impossible for all of them to travel with the play. Catherine Gallagher now performs with the writer and presenter Jean Farrell. Catherine sings some of the hits from the various decades. Soundtracks of other hits are played.
Audiences laugh and cry as the play follows the lives of these six women from childhood to the present day.
