After the success of Factory Girls in May 2012, Little Brother Productions are set to put their spin on the Ray Cooney comedy Why Not Stay For Breakfast? from October 16-18 at Mullingar Arts Centre.
Now in their third year, Little Brother Productions are going from strength to strength.
Putting their heart and souls into rehearsals over the past number of weeks, what better way to debut a fledgling group than to open with one of Cooney’s most popular and fêted plays. The two creative minds behind this classic slapstick are director Jemma McNamee and assistant director Fionnula Irwin.
Helping Jemma and Fionnula bring Why Not Stay For Breakfast? to life are Aidan Ennis as bachelor George Clark, Natasha Dunne as pregnant teen Louise Hamilton, her boyfriend Davey is played by Cormac Quigley, and Eimear Doolin plays the hippy girl from the upstairs apartments.
George (Ennis ), a hardened bachelor in his late thirties, is preparing dinner for himself in his apartment when there’s a knock at the door. It’s Louise (Dunne ) a 17-year-old hippie girl who’s walked out on her boyfriend Davey (Quigley ) from the apartment above and wants to borrow the money for her train fare back home. George is horrified - not at the request for finance but by the fact that Louise is, quite clearly, nine months pregnant. Before the evening is out George has delivered the feisty Louise’s baby and his life will never be the same again.
