Taoiseach adds to Athlone GAA time capsule

As part of The Gathering, Athlone GAA are preparing to fill a time capsule.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has even contributed to the capsule, sending an envelope to the club this week.

The GAA club are asking everyone to get involved and fill an envelope with memorabilia to be buried in the time capsule this Saturday August 3 on the grounds of Pairc Chiaráin.

This is a very exciting venture for Athlone club members, the Athlone community, and businesses alike. The club is inviting anyone who wants to get involved to get in touch by Saturday. Some of the businesses and organisations already signed up to participate include the Radisson Blu, Burgess, RTÉ, Croke Park, the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, the Shamrock Lodge, and Sean’s Bar to name but a few.

The u4 girls team have been nominated to organise a second Gathering event in 2045 when the time capsule will be dug up!

The cost for participants is €5 per envelope with the proceeds going towards South Westmeath Hospice and Athlone GAA development.
