This weekend and next see some fantastic Gathering events for music fans.
Mullingar is well knowns for producing some music heavyweights including Joe Dolan, Bressie, The Blizzards, and of course Niall Horan. It is also the birthplace of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and was host to the first ever All Ireland Fleadh.
December 2012 saw the launch of the first "Music Gathering Mullingar" CD. This CD has been well received and represents a snapshot of current and past Mullingar musical talent. And to continue the musical tradition in the town, two weekends worth of music gatherings have been organised.
This Saturday July 13 sees the Greville Arms Hotel place host to the Music Gathering Mullingar concert. Kicking off at 9.30pm this unique event will see some talented artists showcase their musical ability over two stages on the night.
On Sunday July 21 Music Gathering Mullingar presents Fadó - Echos of Time Past in Story & Song which will be held in The Bakery, Dominick Street, Mullingar at 8.30pm.
