A Mullingar aid worker has lined up with Ireland rugby legend Malcolm O’Kelly to urge runners, joggers, and walkers in Westmeath to sign up for the challenge of a lifetime -The Great Ethiopian Run in November

This 10k race is the biggest and noisiest in Africa and is open to all levels of fitness, including walkers. Over 36,000 participants will line up for the race in the historic city of Addis Ababa, including 500 elite athletes and 500 runners from overseas.

Mullingar man Aidan Leavy, business development coordinator with Plan Ireland, believes there is a great tradition of running and walking in Westmeath and of supporting charity, and that: “This is why I feel this event is the perfect match. By joining Malcolm’s team you will experience the trip of a lifetime, have fun, and help out at the same time”.
